  1. There is another set of photos available, made by an American eyewitness (Click on my name, in this specific posting, to see the source.)

    The photos show the indiscriminate German terror bombing and strafing of Polish civilians. (These eliminated the line between military and civilian targets, and set a precedent for later Allied bombing policies.).

    On of the most famous of these photos is "Sisters". It shows a girl clutching the bloody body of her sister, who had been killed by Luftwaffe strafing.

    The author also captures the mood of the Polish people, whose armies were resisting the Wehrmacht while outgunned 5:1. The indomitable spirit of Warsaw is also captured, including the pronouncements of Mayor Stefan Starzynski.
